We have used several criteria to decide which outlets to include in the Real Food Guide, and we explain what we mean by these here.
Organic Makes an effort beyond the ordinary to promote and support organic produce, grown in accordance with standards set by the Soil Association or an equivalent organisation outside the UK.
Vegan Simple – has to be 100% vegan.
Vegan-friendly Gives vegans a range of options equivalent to those offered to vegetarians and omnivores, for example, by means of a complete vegan menu.
Fairtrade Makes an effort beyond the ordinary to promote and support produce made in accordance with Fairtrade standards.
Local Provides an outlet for locally grown or manufactured food.
Plastic-free Lets you bring your own container to refill with loose produce, avoiding the unnecessary use of plastic bags.
Waste-buster Reduces food waste, for example, by intercepting discarded food and using it for catering.
